  • I love growing milkweed in my garden. Here’s a fun fact: milkweed is the only plant monarch caterpillars can eat, so it’s the only place where monarch butterflies will lay their eggs. Without milkweed, we’d have no monarch butterflies! I’ve left the flowers and the leaves for the butterflies, but it turns out that the milkweed seedpods themselves make unique, beautiful jewelry. I love the texture and dimension of these cast pod earrings.

This necklace is a great one for layering. Douglas fir trees are everywhere in the Pacific Northwest. On the coast, they commonly live at least 500 years. I found this sprig without needles and loved its knobby texture.

  • These sweet earrings feature mimosa buds cast in sterling silver. They are oxidized to emphasize their unique texture. I planted a mimosa tree in my backyard because I was awed by its beautiful pink flower clusters. These trees are also called Persian silk trees for their thread-like petals. Once the tree started to bloom, I discovered that even its buds have unusual, striking textures that make them great fun for jewelry. These earrings pair wonderfully with the mimosa blossom necklace.
