About the Exhibit:

Nicki sees the lighter side of life and finds the humor in everything.  From her Adenomyosis gnomes, to her animals expressing the human condition.  Nicki infuses her experiences and sense of humor into her pieces with the goal to make someone smile.  After being diagnosed with multiple conditions, including Adenomyosis, she decided to do what she always does.  Find the lighter side of life.  Hoping to bring awareness to National Adenomyosis month, Nicki has created a few new pieces specifically for this show.

About Nicki Wandersee:

Born in Geneva, Switzerland, Nicole (Nicki) Wandersee moved to the States when she was four years old. She grew up with her parents and three sisters on five acres in beautiful Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania.

She was on horses before she could even walk, and her first word was the name of one of the family’s dogs, Heidi. Her love of animals grew from there. While growing up, Nicki loved riding and showing her horses, raising dwarf bunnies, feeding their chickens and everything else involved in raising their family’s animals.

It wasn’t until her late 20’s, during a difficult time in her life, Nicki privately started drawing animals, wanting to connect with a familiar soothing part of her life. After taking a long break from creating to focus on her career, Nicki picked up drawing again.  This time only showing a handful of trusted people. One of those being her future husband who encouraged her to follow her passion.  It wasn’t until several years later she became brave enough to show the world her creations. With a lot of dedication and practice, she started sharing her work with others.

Nicki works mainly in pen, and sometimes pencil and charcoal, and is completely self-taught.  She loves the simplicity of black and white and will occasionally add in a pop of color to “shake things up”.  She loves getting lost in creating the details.

Finding the humor in life, Nicki portrays everyday human experiences in her creations giving them their unique personalities.  Her goal is simple.  Making people smile.

Nicki is enjoying living outside her comfort zone and displaying and selling her art around the Brandywine area.

Nicki currently lives in Chester County, Pennsylvania with her husband, their two cats Van Gogh (Van) and Da Vinci (Vinney) and their dog Zeppelin (Zeppy).
