What makes your art unique?

The answer to this is two-fold. First, I let the wool lead the way. Wool has a life force of its own, nurtured by the farmers who cared for the animal and the dyers who process and add color to the fleece. Second, my art is a glimpse into my mind. Sometimes it is weird, sad, fantastical, silly. Unleashing these two facets of creating usually leads to my most unique art.

Why is sustainability important to your art?

Sustainability in general is important to me because our children deserve a safe and beautiful world. I love promoting sustainability in art by challenging myself to minimize waste. For example, I save extra woolly bits from felting to blend into batts to make yarn. Creating sustainable art helps me feel in harmony with Mother Earth.”

What do you do to give back?

Direct reparations and mutual aid are important to me. I find them to be one of the best ways to make a difference in individual lives. Another reason I love this art form is because it allows me to support local PA farmers as well as farmers from all over the country.

What do you hope your art inspires in others?

I hope that my work sparks your imagination. I hope that it inspires you to help protect our natural world and support artists and farmers. Lastly, I’m a teacher at heart and would love it if you were inspired to try felting or another art form yourself!
