What makes your art unique?

Freehand embroidery illustration is pretty unique in of itself—but the heavy PA Dutch Folk Art influence and unusual subject matter of my work really sets me apart within my embroidery peers. I also utilize many of my illustration skills, not just in the original drawings behind each piece, but in the hand-painted finishing touches that makes every hoop completely one-of-a-kind.

What got you started on embroidery?

My background and education is in illustration, and something about its tactile nature just drew me to embroidery as a medium for my pieces. Basically, I found the slowest possible way to complete my illustrations.

What do you do to give back to nature or your community?

I, of course, operate my small business as sustainably as possible—repurposing and recycling materials whenever possible. I also like to collaborate with other artists in my community as often as I can, sharing materials and inspiration back and forth..

What do you hope your art inspires in others?

A greater appreciation for the world at large, and all the creatures we share it with. I also hope to create some comfort and nostalgia for those in the area who grew up with PA Dutch art and motifs.
