What makes your art unique?
As a silversmith I value process of traditional handcraft and the small-batch ethos, so every piece is a unique, thoughtful signature. My favorite aspect is scouring the world for these incredible stones to include in my work, no two of which are ever exactly alike.
Why is sustainability important to your art?
Mindful consumption of anything will help both the thing and also its consumer flourish. I’m careful to collect gems from ethically sound lapidaries and am beginning to learn to cut them myself. As a solo studio artisan, I also limit the amount I produce to what will keep my operations sustainable and creative.
What do you do to give back?
I frequently hide pieces of jewelry around Chester County in serendipitous ‘treasure hunts.’ I also donate work to community services and different selected causes each year to lift my neighborhood.
What do you hope your art inspires in others?
I think we all crave to really be Seen. We step into our power when we unleash from conformity and celebrate the fractals of our authentic Selves. My hope is that my jewelry is almost talismanic for the wearer as a mirror that reflects some piece of herself: “intentional adornment for the unleashed spirit.”
