What makes your art unique?

My beeswax candles are handcrafted in small batches using solar energy in the remote north woods of Minnesota’s Arrowhead Region. The packaging is FSC Certified and the inks used are vegetable based.

Why is sustainability important to your art?

Sustainability in life is important to me. We are only here for a short time and we must keep our footprints small if we want future generations to enjoy wild places.

What do you do to give back?

I started the Zoongoshkiniigikwe Mentorship Program. The word means “making strong young women” in Anishinaabemowen. I lead them on various activities and experiences that include entrepreneurial endeavors, beeswax candle making, working with sled dogs and paddling into the BWCA.

What do you hope your art inspires in others?

With my story, I hope to inspire people, women especially, to not settle for the mundane. Love the journey towards your dreams and live it.
