That was then, and this is now! The Jeweled Warrior Renovations

Have you ever wondered how The Jeweled Warrior came to be? We have an exclusive look into our space's before and after renovations! We put our heart and soul into this building with our amazing friends' assistance, and our end goal was to create an exciting yet cozy environment welcoming to everyone. Read on to learn more, and see before and after pictures of each room at The Jeweled Warrior!

The Jeweled Warrior space was formerly known as the Simpson House.

The Transformative Gallery

The Jeweled Warrior space was formerly known as the Simpson House. It had been saved from demolition and moved across the street over 20 years ago, where it became home to the Simpson Tea House. We began the renovations in September 2021 after deciding to become the new tenant.

The space is a central component of our Enchanted Forest and features monthly rotating exhibits by local artists.

Once renovations began, we determined our first step would be to take out three walls in the Transformative Gallery. We wanted to make it look spacious and add plenty of natural sunlight to the room! The space is a central component of our Enchanted Forest and features monthly rotating exhibits by local artists.

However, after taking on such a big project, we realized that this renovation would be too much for our owner Kristin, to do on her own. That’s when we sought our dear friend Miho Kahn to help us continue the renovations! The Transformative Gallery is what it is today with the help of Miho, an artist and designer in West Chester, PA, who owns Kismet, a consignment shop in Downingtown. Miho is a visionary, and we will forever be grateful for how she took the seed from her mind and transformed the space into a full Enchanted Forest. Next, we collaborated with Miho and her work partner, Nonnie Hugo, to redesign the gallery.

Bespoke Displays and The Main Gallery

With the Bespoke displays throughout the building, we took apart and rebuilt everything. Nothing is just one piece of furniture! The main display, which is lovingly referred to as the Greenhouse, is made with the old windows and doors of this historic building. This is located in the Main Gallery! This room envelops the tree-like displays that give our space an Enchanted Forest atmosphere, complete with the Greenhouse in the center.

The Craft Room

The Craft Room was actually the kitchen before renovations! It was previously covered in grease and kitchen equipment, which we knew had to be cleaned. The subfloors had to be replaced because they were rotted, and the new flooring installation was completed with the help of our dear friends, Sabino and Kelly. This room has bright windows, a three-bay sink, and a full-sized refrigerator. Not only is it perfect for crafts, but it can be set up for a mobile bar and snack station, and even for wine and cheese pairings!

The energy really shifts in this room, so we enjoy having our energy events in there.

The Moon Room

The Moon Room has always been our owner, Kristin’s favorite room. While renovating, Miho wanted to keep the room as light as it originally was, but Kristin had insisted that it should be painted dark purple. Now, we have a one-of-a-kind moon mural on the wall and a cloud mural on the ceiling. The Moon Room has room-darkening curtains and creates a private setting when closing the door. We wanted to make the room feel like a warm, welcoming cave overlooking the moon, and our goal has thankfully been accomplished. The energy really shifts in this room, so we enjoy having our energy events in there.
